On the morning of Saturday, May 18, 2024, a devastating shooting occurred at the corner of E. 5th Ave. and Summit Street, claiming the lives of three individuals and injuring two others. The victims were 27-year-old Malachi Pee, 18-year-old Da'Ondre Bullock, and 26-year-old Garcia Dixon, who passed away in the hospital. This tragic incident is currently under investigation by Columbus Police.

As the temperatures rise, so too do the occurrences of these senseless acts of violence. It’s a cycle that seems unbreakable, and the consequences are felt deeply within our communities. The children growing up in these neighborhoods deserve a safe environment, free from the constant threat of violence.

I am personally sickened and exhausted by the continuous shootings. It feels as though the value of life has diminished, and the desire to mature and contribute positively to society has been overshadowed by violent impulses. When one person takes the life of another, they are destroying not just an individual but a son, a father, an uncle, and a brother. The ripple effects are far-reaching, affecting families and communities profoundly.

Nobody wins when a life is taken. Every homicide results in a collective loss for our community. This is the harsh reality we face, and it’s something we must address with urgency and compassion.

This is Brother Blondie reminding everyone that ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER. We must come together to find solutions, support one another, and create a safer environment for all.
